Are you being cheated on your dallas county bail bonds?
It seems funny right? How can you be cheated by a dallas county bail bonds agent. The process is straight forward. You have been arrested and you get in touch with the dallas county bail bonds agent. The agent will post your bond and you pay him or her, the percentage that you are supposed to pay. And of course you show up for the next scheduled court date. But it’s not as simple as that. There are very good chances that you might get scammed by people who are not bail agents at all. Here are a few things to watch out for.
Scam no 1- I’ll give you a discount on your bail amount
This is not really possible. The Department of insurance has set the rates that have to be paid on the bail bond that is issued by each agent. The actual rate will vary according to state rules and the amount that you have been set as bail. On an average, take the percentage that you have to pay the bonder as 10%. That means on a bail amount of $10,000, you have to pay the bond agent $1000 and he will pay the court the $10,000. This assures the court that you will be there for the next court date. If any company is offering a below part payment for the bail, please be careful as you could end up paying the extra amount as fees for processing and paperwork. Legally, the company cannot charge you a below-market rate and they might be an illegal company too. Not everyone can afford to pay the $1000 and this might cause you to jump at the option of getting a discount. Please note though that all legal bond companies offer interest free financing
Scam no 2- Bail agents who solicit in jail cells
According to the Department of Insurance, bail agents are only allowed to solicit business by word of mouth, by advertising and by solicit customers outside the courthouse. Any agent who tries to get your business from inside the jail or in jail houses is carrying out an illegal practice. Do not accept business card or a detail on bond agents from other inmates too as this is an illegal method of soliciting customers. Sometimes these inmates get a percentage of the fee that you pay the bondman when you sign up with them. This is not legal and can result in a complication in your court case.
All bail agents are licensed by the Department of Insurance and they have to carry the license with them. If the person does not have a license, do not take the loan or the bail amount that they offer. You could be cheated into taking on an unsolicited loan that has a very high interest rate which you will never be able to pay off. Be careful and make an informed decision on which bail agent you are signing up with.
